Blog: Meet Sarah Lambert
At Solutions On Stage, we’re committed to providing the very best service for our customers. A significant part of this commitment is our team – made up of individuals who are not only experts in their fields but also share our passion for creating performance spaces that are both safe and fulfil their potential.
With that in mind, we’re delighted to announce Sarah Lambert has recently joined us as our new Resource Co-Ordinator; in which she’ll be focusing on the operational logistics that keep our projects running. As such, we thought we’d sit down with Sarah to chat about her career so far, what brought her to Solutions On Stage, and what her new role involves.
Hi Sarah! Can you tell us a bit about your professional background?
I’ve always worked in logistics and operations— as someone who’s a fan of puzzle-solving, it’s where I feel most at home! I’m in my element when it comes to organising people’s schedules and ensuring they’re where they need to be, when they need to be there. Whilst most of the time the actual work on-site is all the customer sees, none of this can happen unless everything behind the scenes has been meticulously planned.
I’ve been in logistics for nearly twenty years now. I first entered the live entertainment industry back in 2011, when I joined the Venue Services Department within a company that supplied technical equipment. It was here where I met Gareth Matchwick, now Managing Director at Solutions On Stage, and we worked closely together on a variety of projects. After around five years, I took some time away from the company after having my daughter, after which I worked in other part-time logistics and operations roles - before eventually coming back to the industry with this latest role.
What have you learned during your time in the live entertainment industry?
There’s that timeless saying in theatre and live performance: “The show must go on” - and I quickly discovered how true this is! For instance, if there was a live performance scheduled for that evening and a theatre needed a lighting repair, I’d somehow have to help make this happen – otherwise there would be no show! Similarly, environments such as theatres and schools always have tight schedules and are usually only free at the same time! As such, when working across a range of venues, I’ve had to devise ways in which organisations can deliver scheduled maintenance work to a variety of buildings simultaneously. Additionally, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the significance of well-equipped, fully operational performance spaces—not only for the audience but also for the performers on stage and the crew behind the scenes.
What will your role at Solutions On Stage involve?
I’m starting as Resource Co-Ordinator. Gareth approached me a few months back and told me that, as the company continues to grow and work with more and more clients, he needed someone who could specifically oversee the logistics of all the projects we were delivering. So, when it comes to the role, my main focus will be making sure our engineers have everything they need before heading out to site — such as timings, locations, contact info, and everything else in between.
Following this, my position will then see me move more into the Operations side of the business. Essentially, my job is to ensure everything runs as smooth as possible – the benefit of which will be felt most by our clients.
How are you finding it so far?
It’s early days, but I’m loving it! I already knew quite a few familiar faces— Andy Hewlett, Darren Williams and some of the site teams—and everyone’s been so welcoming. I’ve been working closely with Rebecca Curtis, our Customer Support Specialist, who’s been helping me get up to speed with how the company works and the specific systems that it uses.
With schools, colleges, and universities being such a big part of our client base, we’re already planning ahead for the summer holidays and working with all of our clients to ensure we’re able to deliver our services at a time that suits then. I’m basically already in the thick of it - and it’s very exciting!
Finally, what excites you most about joining Solutions On Stage?
Honestly, it’s the team. I’m surrounded by brilliantly talented people who genuinely care about delivering the best service to their clients. I love how open and transparent the company is—it’s built a great culture, and I’m really happy to be part of it.
I’m also looking forward to the busy months ahead. There’s something satisfying about solving the puzzle of getting our teams into as many venues across the UK as possible—it’s a challenge, but one I’m relishing!
